Contact and background

I’m open to conversations about power electronics, EMC and certification, electrification programs, and venture-side technology roles. Email is the fastest way to reach me.

Based in Indianapolis, Indiana. For the story behind the resume, including community work and recognition, see the About page.

Background at a glance

Seven years across passenger automotive, defense, and commercial hybrid markets. I’ve led electromagnetic compliance and controls work on Allison’s electrified powertrain programs, built an in-house EMC pre-compliance lab, and carried products through concept, design, and production validation, with a procurement background that keeps the business case in view.

Experience

Allison TransmissionSpeedway, Indiana
March 2023 to present

Electro-Mechanical Control Systems Engineer

  • Made the case to management for a $100K internal EMC pre-compliance lab, then built it and trained engineers to debug hardware in it, cutting $20K to $40K of outside-lab cost per design iteration and reducing regulatory risk.
  • Led international military product certification strategy across the US, India, Sweden, and Italy, opening defense market access.
  • Supported European market capture through Conformity of Production certification, aligning products with EU quality standards and legislation.
  • Wrote statements of work and test plans for the US, Italian, and Indian governments, and built compliance matrices, DFMEAs, and PFMEAs.
  • Translated technical and regulatory requirements into executive briefings that drove resource decisions on the Next Gen Transmission Controller.
  • Led electronic products through concept, design, and production validation, and troubleshot and retrofitted EV and hybrid chassis with actuators, sensors, and control modules for fleet integration.
North American LightingFarmington Hills, Michigan
March 2021 to March 2023

Procurement Engineer, then Electronics Engineer

  • Designed microcontroller circuits using CAN and LIN to interface with secondary PCBs and the body control module.
  • Ran worst-case circuit analysis in MathCAD to find failure modes across environmental conditions.
  • Translated customer requirements into product specifications, including RoHS compliance, cybersecurity, and lighting safety requirements, as the liaison between R&D, sales, and purchasing.
  • Mitigated supply-chain risk through strategic sourcing and market-informed supplier negotiations, achieving $1.2M in cost avoidance.
Purdue UniversityWest Lafayette, Indiana
May 2020 to March 2021

Research Engineer

  • Proposed a more efficient charging process for the IndyGo BYD electric bus fleet, based on battery state of charge, state of health, and route patterns.
  • Built a PID control algorithm in MATLAB/Simulink to hold motor efficiency across varying load.

Roles I’m open to

The roles I’m building toward sit where hardware, certification, and business strategy overlap.

EMC and certification leadership

Owning EMC design reviews, control plans, and test strategy for control systems, and leading the certification case with customers and authorities.

Power electronics engineering

Setting design standards, templates, and technology roadmaps for power electronics teams, and closing verification against requirements across the V.

Program and product strategy

Taking electrification programs through gate reviews to start of production, and building the investment case for which technologies to back.
